I see in the several years two of mankind鈥檚 machines will marry. It nothing to worry about many separate creations of mankind are married to produce new and fun things. But this married this predicted to cause a stir. Strong Magnetic fields and reflecting properties of atoms in those fields to radio waves have given rise to the hospital's MRI scanner. Computers are essential in interpreting the frequency of the reflections to draw an image. The problem is that magnetic fields disrupt electron flow causing computer failure. But soon computers will be photonic. This will mean that photonic computers will function in areas of high magnetic field strengths which is what is required to run MRI. This will allow the scanner to be in one room where as today the computers are situated away from the magnet. And who knows where the marriage of the optical chip and a plain Jane bar magnet will take us, perhaps a handheld due for around Christmas 2014.
