Where do all the obsolete PC's go to? Are they being thrown away in sanitary deposits?

Technology is changing so fast that companies and indiividuals are getting rid of their %26quot;old%26quot; PC's. So what is happenig to all these personal computers? Is someone destroying them? Are they being disassembled? Are they being sent to third world countries? Are the PC's being ovehauled or recycled? I really wonder what is happening to these pieces of junk!
Where do all the obsolete PC's go to? Are they being thrown away in sanitary deposits?
Where I live there is a foundation that takes donated old computers and gets them up to par..then they give them out free to children here in the school systems..It's called No Child Left Out or something like that and their basis is that every child can benefit from having a computer in their home..Pretty neat idea. :)

When I get a new one, I know I will be donating mine.
Where do all the obsolete PC's go to? Are they being thrown away in sanitary deposits?
i might give mine to the orphanage.........or some poor ppl...
A lot wind up in landfills but now there are centers opening that take them apart and salvage the components. There is one in Chattanooga that hires handicapped workers.
They are being sent to a secret government facility in Tazmania. A super computer is being built from the rubbish. I shall call it %26quot;Hal 2008%26quot;.
I'm gonna donate mine pretty soon to my underpriviliged little brothers. My tightwad stepdad still has them using a Gateway Performance 750 from '99 running Windows 98SE. I've upgraded the RAM and upgraded to Windows XP, but some hardware was incompatible. Since my dad thinks the internet is evil, I signed them up for two free Juno and NetZero accounts. So they get 20 free hours of extremely slow dial up service per month.

I'll give them my old upgraded (and overclocked) Pavilion A320N. Should make them happy.

Also, some old PCs are converted into servers.

What is Web 2.0? What is its basic concept and implementation?
Web 2.0 is a term describing changing trends in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, secure information sharing, collaboration and functionality of the web. Web 2.0 concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities and its hosted services, such as social-networking sites, video sharing sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies. The term became notable after the first O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004.[2][3] Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to any technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users utilize the Web.
Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform. Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities, and hosted services 鈥?such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies 鈥?which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.

Does anyone else just feel overwhelmed by technology and how much things have changed?

for example, there did not used to be ANY computers, the internet, ipods, cell phones, video games, or any of this other stuff that exists today AT ALL. Now, these things exist in such great numbers and forms that I don't even know about all of them. There are also all sorts of different websites, blogs, things you can do, places you can go, games you can play things you can buy, and so much other stuff that I don't even know what to do anymore. I just think it is really sad that the world has gone a time when everything existed in a sole simple form to where there are multiple forms of everything, so much so that I am literally overwhelmed by all of the brands or types of things.
Does anyone else just feel overwhelmed by technology and how much things have changed?
yes,,,,all these choices we have for EVERYTHING will be the ruination of this planet.

Where do you see the world in 100 years?

What do you think the world will be like in regards to environmental issues, famines, wars, peace, religion, economics, technology, etc. Also, do you think any countries or regions will take over other countries or regions, or do you believe any countries or regions may split. Also add whatever other changes that you believe will occur.
Where do you see the world in 100 years?
Everything is literally crumbled to the ground.... Everybody is dead.
Where do you see the world in 100 years?
Obliterated by the Space Aliens
ina bad bad situation... global warming... and not the same as it is today.. and tomorrow... and the day after that... ETC.
We will have a gay president America will not exist, and we will have a lot more neat gadgets. Every thing else will be the same. There will always be poor people black people will still be sing we shall over come, and white people will still be just as raciest.
things will stay relatively constant like they always have. 100 years is not that far in the future. technology, of course, will probably be the most different. Maybe we'll even have teleportation fine tuned by then. Moon colonization is possible. Maybe going for vacation into outer space won't be uncommon (remember, it was only 30 years after the Wright brothers flew that commercial airliners boomed in popularity). As far as religion goes, I think religious influences will lessen as has been the trend since the european reformation. War will be just as common. We only have enough resources for 9.5 billion people on this planet, and we're at almost 7 billion now, so I could see wars being fought over the Himalayan water supply and such.

It's going to be interesting! Oh and global warming won't end human kind...
We would be totally blown away,

Imagine life 100 years ago.

Almost Nothing, is standing that they helped build. except some broken down windmills in the fields.

, now I can look out of any window and see at least a few of those windmills we have on our wind farm.

I am almost blown away by it all and I'm only sixty. TVs, cell phones, camera's, modern medicine, and wow here's a tool that I can ask any question and with a break of 4 hours I can get 30 different answers for anything I wish to ask. Who would of thought it?

and the future, like a hundred years from now, you and everyone older than yourself will be dead. Countries may decide to be at peace and realize one supreme Commander. Global warming, could have the effect of people to populate Antarctica, and Alaska. And Be the most tightly packed places on Earth. All brand new architecture, and things we can't even begin to predict.

What changes have happened and are happening to us and to the world?

What have changed in the environment we live in, the technologies we use, etc.

Please help me think of more answers. Thanks a lot..
What changes have happened and are happening to us and to the world?
Your question isn't entirely clear, but I hope my answer helps...

Changes to the environment are positive and negative.

NEGATIVE (some ideas)

%26gt;%26gt;pollution of our resources, light pollution (shown to have an effect on human hormones), water pollution, noise pollution

%26gt;%26gt;world disasters: drought, hurricanes, etc.

%26gt;%26gt;increase in environmentally related diseases (cancer, for one)

%26gt;%26gt;the fast-paced lifestyle that precludes people stopping to help someone and produces stress and stress-related diseases (heart),

%26gt;%26gt;the effects of terrorism and the Patriot Act

%26gt;%26gt;the spread of nuclear weapons

======================================鈥?br>

POSITIVE

%26gt;%26gt;the ability to connect with anyone from any location: cell phones, internet, satellite technology

%26gt;%26gt;the internet has provided an amazing resource and wealth of information (Google Earth, for example)

%26gt;%26gt;computerized technology that diagnoses problems such as car malfunctioning

%26gt;%26gt;Kindle...e-books

%26gt;%26gt;leisure devices (electronic gaming, etc)

%26gt;%26gt;advances in the medical technological field, CATSCAN, MRI's etc.

%26gt;%26gt;changes in cancer treatment...this is an ongoing thing. I received treatments for throat cancer this year that were not available 5 years ago. (I'm fine, btw) and I've noticed that even more recently, people are being given new forms of treatment. They've developed a bag that people wear 24/7 that administers chemo gradually.

Maybe some of these points will give you more ideas.

  • How does technology rapidly change?

    Around the world and stuff
    How does technology rapidly change?
New stuff gets made. People find the new stuff cool, and start making new stuff for the new stuff. Eventually the old stuff gets so behind because nobody makes stuff for it anymore, that it becomes obsolete. Repeat to infinity.
    How does technology rapidly change?
Supply and Demand. There is a huge demand for new technology - in our Technological Age. We rapidly surge forth discovering new realms of technological advances that we can attain and then mass produce them for the general public.

Some realms of technology that we are just now peering into is quantum technology and bacterial technology. With these we can make large strides forward, discovering new ventures and products to be consumed by the masses.

How did World War Two effect American food culture?

In terms of technology, tastes, dishes and preferences how did the WW2 change American tastes and food culture in the long term?
How did World War Two effect American food culture?
As a kid I remember not being able to have a lot of things to eat. Meat, sugar, coffee and many other things at times were hard to come by. I still remember breaking that yellow packet to turn white margarine %26quot;butter%26quot; yellow.
How did World War Two effect American food culture?
people ate more canned and frozen food becuase it was mass produced for the military.
People started to eat processed and %26quot;fake%26quot; food for the first time; margarine for example.

Why are politicians pushing ethanol and hybrid Technology when the solution is clearly hydrogen cars?

I don't believe in global warming, but I want a cleaner world with less real pollutants (mercury, carcinogens, phosphorus, and what not). If we a are going to radically change our environmental policy why would we not go with a zero emission solution...are special interests once again in the way?
Why are politicians pushing ethanol and hybrid Technology when the solution is clearly hydrogen cars?
I agree with you ....on both points.

But right now there is no workable hydrogen engine. It uses more energy to create the hydrogen then the car produces so we still need to burn oil or coal to create the hydrogen.

Nuclear is the most viable and cleanest technology that we have today. Modern reactors produce little to no waste.

    Edit:

Yes this process could be used to either crate the hydrogen or charge electric cars...all pollution free.
Why are politicians pushing ethanol and hybrid Technology when the solution is clearly hydrogen cars?
But, the technology is not yet great enough for them to work correctly and efficiently in different regions. For example, what is their exhaust? H2O. So, this would not be too efficient in colder regions.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. Advances just have to be made. Hydrogen would be the cleanest energy source (beyond solar) for transportation.
Politics and government are NEVER the solution to a problem.
GE doesn't have a plan for hydrogen.
Ethanol and hybrid technology are probably transitional forms of energy for automobiles. I have read some interesting articles in a few Science and Technology magazines that predict that hydrogen technology will soon evolve to the point where it will become feasible and less costly. They give it about 5 to 10 more years before consumers will have more choices.

I remember when the news media kept stating that electric or hybrid cars would never be feasible because the price was too high to become popular. In my city, nearly an eighth of the newer cars I seen on the roads are hybrids, including taxis and many are now becoming available as used cars when their owners trade them in for the newer, more powerful and more roomier hybrids.
    3 problems with hydrogen cars....

    1) Energy cost to create hydrogen out weights the benefits

    2) Distribution systems would have to be created... HUGE HUGE HUGE costs. Just ask the gas companies. (No car will simply run off of the water coming out of the garden hose... sorry)

    3) Unstable and VERY flammable. You wouldn't need the traffic report anymore because you could tell where the accidents were at by the mushroom clouds.

Innovation has a process and timeline.... it doesn't really speed up by simply throwing more money at it.

  • Going into university, I would like to know what career fields have most potencial in the next 5 to 10 years?

I am going into university from high school soon, and I am thinking of what field I should go into. I am strong in physics, math, chemistry, and information technology.

My teachers had said that the world had changed over the past decade, many jobs and careers that existed are gone, and many new careers are introduced because of many new technologies. (Take computer programmers and webpage designers for example)

Some people say that the field of economics has potential in the future. Maybe a career in electrical engineering, or something in buisness. What courses should i take if i want to be self-employed.

    So confused... any advice?
Going into university, I would like to know what career fields have most potencial in the next 5 to 10 years?
There will always be a growing need in health care. Job stability is most assured here.
Going into university, I would like to know what career fields have most potencial in the next 5 to 10 years?
Nurses and doctors are always in top demand all around the world. You'd never be out of work ever.
Medical fields in general will only continue to grow. I would try to specialize in something, lots of school, but lots of money when you're done.

Judging from world events recently, can you honest say man is rational?

Is modern man any more rational than the cave dwellers? What can you point to that shows fundamental change? Maybe only the tools and technology is all that has changed.
Judging from world events recently, can you honest say man is rational?
Generally speaking people are used by others for whatever is needed. People who use others are cynical opportunists who use people's hate, fear, love, pain, and desire to get what they want. I opened a book on advertising and it had chapters with titles like %26quot;Into The Valley of the Sluts%26quot;. To my surprise even though it could have been written yesterday it was published in the early 1950's. People change very slowly.
Judging from world events recently, can you honest say man is rational?
soap and deodorant....otherwise we're all still savages. Is this the answer you wanted???
No. That is why I decided to undergo a controversial surgery and become an ape.

I live a wonderful life eating parasites off my friend's backs and enjoying raucuos crap fights.
Recently, no. But I consider the whole of world history and can't find a time where modern man acted rationally.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

If peace fell into the lap of man/womankind, he or she would start a war over who was responsible for it.
Not only judging from recent events, but from events going back a few thousand years, I don't think you can say man is rational. Alas, humankind still has some of the primitive behaviors that have not entirely evolved out of the species.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.
No this lack of rationality is exemplified by Americans electing Bush and supporting wars which only destroy them but profit Bush, and not the people.
Well most people still believe in an invisible sky daddy, so I don't think people have made that much progress on the rational front. However, at least the tools are there to learn to understand the world in a rational manner. A caveman would have little basis for analysis of the world around him outside of his religion.

Not that a caveman didn't have the ability to implement inductive reasoning and create technology, the tools and skills they develop have shown otherwise. Only that he was unable to apply the same techniques to a wide range of problems like we are capable of doing today. Whether most people take advantage of this vast reservoir of knowledge is another story, but at least it is there for perusal.
We're still very Tribal in our thinking. All of our societies are built on an 'us and them' mentality. We are extremely predatory and aggressive creatures. And you really can't completely deny genetics. We need a new frontier into which we can channel our energies. I always regretted that we didn't get into Space in a much bigger, more blue collar way. Lob a bunch of roughnecks into space and tell them to build you something! Those ol boys would be lining up to go. And they'd get the job done too!
Fundamental point, we don't live in caves. If you want, do it and go back 10,000 years. Until then, leave the rest of modern society alone.
I can't even watch the news and think men are rational. Look at them! Even the reporters are acting bizarre. It's not like the news isn't bad enough. Can you actually watch a newscaster and think they are acting impartially? It would be funny if so much weren't at stake. We can just do our best. That's it. When we see unfair, prejudicial things staring us in the face, we do our best and leave the rest to God. He's probably the only one who is really impartial.

    Modern Technology depressions me?

So i am 13 and i don`t believe that i grew up in a world that has such develop Technology because whatever time period it is currently will always be labeled as %26quot;the most develop time period%26quot; since humans are constaly making changes to technology. However I see technology today and it makes me sad because its suppose to make your life easier and instead it just gets more complex, i don't know complex in a good or bad way but complex. And when i see technology used decades ago i see how harder it was to clean clothes or to dry them or just to listen to radio and find a good song and etc etc but their lives seemed so simple. I feel as if i can`t appreciate life now if haven't lived life 60 through the 20th century. And that's my dream, to live through the past but obviously time machines don`t exist (yet!). I want to live life through the fullest right now because i am young now and should enjoy it but how can i if i feel i don`t even belong?
    Modern Technology depressions me?
It's not so much the technology that makes you feel like you don't belong in this time, it's the culture of our times that abuses technology. So much of our technology is used to mindlessly entertain us and keep us distracted and disconnected. At 13 life is confusing enough without having all this tech shoved down your throat. You're still very young and trying to find where you belong, hell, I'm 21 and I'm still trying to find that one out.

The old days seem simple but are elusive so we must try to build ourselves to a point where we can live with as much connection to technology as we desire. One day I hope to be able to not have to depend on modern tech for anything. Grow my own food, build my own house from the earth, and create my own music/entertainment without the electronics.
    Modern Technology depressions me?
that would explain why the technology known as 'spell check' eludes you
You sound insightful for your age. Sometimes I feel the same about technology, but even people in the past used to say modern technology depressed them.

Choose something you love doing and the money will follow. Talk to parents and your school counselor let them advise you on a career. When you choose a major in college, most have a class that will give you what the average person makes in the field, what availability of jobs there are, what to expect. Then you will know what field to take. That's actually how I decided teaching wasn't for me. (Where I live a teacher makes minimum wage when they start out. Hopefully that's not still the case).Maybe attend some job fairs. If you want to be self employed I advise reading books like Rich Dad Poor Dad, books on how others made it, etc.

democracy studies for sure; in the next five to ten years america will have bombed the whole world into submission and all the survivors will be crying out for democracy
Medical, Medical, Medical!!!! People will never stop getting sick.. My friend is a doctor and he makes over 1 mill for his group practice. And he can never see enough patients in one day. But their is so many different fields in the medical profession that you could possiblly be self employed. Transcriptionist, Nurse in a private practice would be my ideal job. Good luck! and congratulations for getting into your university!

    What information technology field?

    Greetings

I am looking at a career in IT once I finish school and was wondering if someone could point me towards a suitable field to work in.

From what I understand the computing world is always changing so I am unsure of which area would be best to study as what is relevant now might not be 10 years later.

Any suggestions on what is a field that will be needed for a long time to come?

    Many thanks for your assistance.

    Zartbot
    What information technology field?
In response to t-izzle, some universities offer a bachelor's in IT fields such as Networking and the like. Plus, you also have other fields like Management Information Systems and some others as well.

You should contact your college for more info.
    What information technology field?
Software or Hardware will be suitable
A BA in Computer Science is pretty much the minimum you would need in a computer field. Get that, and then specialize by getting certifications for what you would want to do.

BA.CS. is basically programming, you can get into that directly out of college. But if you want to get into tech work, network setups, and the crazier stuff you can do... you're going to need certifications (compTIA.com or org... one of those will give you info on the tests.) Then either take classes (best way to learn since you get chances to actually do the stuff), or study on your own, pass the test, and go insane trying to find someone willing to give you the chance to work for free to get experience doing the work (even though for the last 2 years you did all the work in your class)
I would suggest doing what you enjoy, and what you're passionate about. As a passionate programmer in a small town, I have a personal problem with people who get in to the field for the money. The IT field is over saturated, and that over saturation is the cause of outsourcing tech support, apathetic help desk workers, and shoddy programming. Also know: IT is NOT easy! If you're going in to the field in hopes of a comfy chair and air conditioning, know that the pressure on programmers is heavy, and we're not above days and days with little to no sleep. Being a tech of any kind is also very difficult and especially stressful because of how much you have to deal with (often stupid) users.

TL;DR: Do something that makes you happy so I don't have to meet up with you in real life and hate you for doing it for the money.

Do you think the world in general has went downhill since older times?

This is especially for people who've been around to see the change. I'm young, and it seems that time has brought on some unpleasant change, but I haven't been around to actually watch it happen. Has technology become more of a burden than an aid? Are the ways we do things now better or worse than how they were done in the past? This is a very general question about society. Answer as you interpret it.
Do you think the world in general has went downhill since older times?
I believe so, however I have not been around to view the said changes. Personally I think todays dependence on technology is disgusting, I hate the fact that I feel lost without a computer, or that no one writes a letter anymore. Everyone has become a lot more self obsessed over the past few decades. There is no longer a help the community sort of feel, it's every man for himself and no one could care less if joe blow across the street is suffering.

I don't think that todays society really has a purpose, we're not fighting forwomen's rights, combating racism, or trying to stop the war..We're just going through the motions of everyday life for no reason what so ever.

Makes me think of the song %26quot;I wish i were a punk rocker%26quot;.

    'Not everybody drove a car,

When music really mattered and when radio was king,

    When accountants didn't have control

And the media couldn't buy your soul

And computers were still scary and we didn't know everything

When record shops were still on top

And vinyl was all that they stocked

And the super info highway was still drifting out in space

Kids were wearing hand me downs,

And playing games meant kick around

I was born too late to a world that doesn't care

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair'
Do you think the world in general has went downhill since older times?
    Not a bit.
You're not actually serious, are you?

EDIT: More tolerance towards minority groups, a much higher life-expectancy, better health care, underprivileged groups (the poor, the old, etc) are cared for a lot better than previously.

If by %26quot;older times%26quot; you mean a century or more ago, than you really, really, really can not be serious. People nowadays are not nearly as violent, oppressed by stronger groups or oppressive towards weaker groups as they were a century or more ago.

I'll just assume that you made this as a joke.
    Not at all
As a youth we seemed to have respect for other ppl that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I'm a school bus driver and also use to ride as a child.
Do I think the world has GONE downhill? Yes, especially because nobody knows how to use proper grammar anymore.
Technology has become better but people are less social to their neighbours these days as they have cellphones and the internet.

So in some ways things are better but in other ways they are not.

Myself I would prefer to live in the older times but if I could go back then I would like to take the medical know-how and technology back with me in case I got sick or needed to be treated for an ailment or something.
Hell nooo. I wouldn't wanna be a susie home-maker, pushing out babies and boosting my cheating husbands confidence constantly. How can you actually consider technology a burden, look at all the medical technology that saves lives EVERYDAY! Life is better, easy as that.

they became more democratic, they became a economic superpower cause they adapted western technology to their society.

Despite becoming more westernized they mostly kept their cultural values.

I mean I love Japanese things(anime, manga, the language, martial arts...)

Going into university, I would like to know what career fields have most potencial in the next 5 to 10 years?

I am going into university from high school soon, and I am thinking of what field I should go into. I am strong in physics, math, chemistry, and information technology.

My teachers had said that the world had changed over the past decade, many jobs and careers that existed are gone, and many new careers are introduced because of many new technologies. (Take computer programmers and webpage designers for example)

Some people say that the field of economics has potential in the future. Maybe a career in electrical engineering, or something in buisness. What courses should i take if i want to be self-employed.

    So confused... any advice?
Going into university, I would like to know what career fields have most potencial in the next 5 to 10 years?
i would pick any engineering field as guaranteed to still be in demand.

my second choice would be physics.

i would only do a biz degree if you were doing a double major, because it seems like lots and lots of people thinkg a biz degree is the way to big money. I think the field will be overcrowded.
Going into university, I would like to know what career fields have most potencial in the next 5 to 10 years?
if you want to be self-employed, take buisness classes. buisness is the most versatile. but honestly, do something you have a passion for. something you want to learn about. college is not solely to land a job. it is to gain knowledge. the job is what you must apply that knowledge to.
Whatever it is you are passionate about, if you want a fulfilling life. If you want to be rich, anything regarding finance. If you want it all, think about the travel industry. When the majority of baby boomers retire in the next 5 - 10 years there will be a lot of people with time and money. Think about it, if you had time and money what would you do more of???
In the United States, the top ten jobs for college graduates, in terms of growth are:

    1. Network systems and data communications analysts

    2. Physician assistants

    3. Computer software engineers, applications

    4. Physical therapist assistants

    5. Dental hygienists

    6. Computer software engineers, systems software

    7. Network and computer systems administrators

    8. Database administrators

    9. Physical therapists

    10. Forensic science technicians

This is per 2014 forecasts of United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

If you want to be self employed, skip school. No really. University costs too much and as a self employed person, you won't see any return from having a degree. You can teach yourself the basics of running a business by reading free information online and book in the library. More confusing is what kind of business should I start, but that's an entire new question.

More importantly, try to be happy. Follow your inner-voice into whatever may interest you the most.

  • What is your opinion on transhumanism? How will these efforts change the world?

    Transhumanism -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumani鈥?/a> (in case people are unfamiliar)

From a religious/spiritual perspective what do you think the consequences of 'playing God' would be?

Do you think any transhumanist practices will succeed? will benefit man kind? will greatly enhance our lifespans?

What do you think the consequences would be if this technology fell in the wrong hands?

Do you think transhumanist programs, eugenics, cloning etc. pose a threat to:

    1) Humanity/Human nature

    2) The value of 'real' human life

    3) Global stability

    4) Resource scarcity

    5) Scientific mishaps (example: Frankenstein like creatures?)

Overall, what are your thoughts on this? There doesn't seem to be any other questions on transhumanism in Yahoo answers so I'm hoping to get as many responses as possible.
What is your opinion on transhumanism? How will these efforts change the world?
One of the most astounding pictures I have ever seen. The challange that I see is that somebody is deciding what is 'deficit' and what is 'enhancement'. In a perfect world that would be clear.... in the world we live in however...
What is your opinion on transhumanism? How will these efforts change the world?
Without altering mankind's aggressive behaviiors anything transhumanist do will be %26quot;futile.%26quot; Any mutation of this species to a supposedly BETTER one is a waste of time SIMPLY because no one can alter our environment and everything it affects in the human condition........
Transhumanism is acceptable by almost all religions in the world provided that it is for saving life and the intention is good. There is no such thing as playing God. Our ability to create things are from God. It is Him who teach us everything we know.

I do believe transhumanist will succeed over times and it will benefit all of us. If such technologies being used for good deed, it will be good for all human kind. If it fall into the wrong hand then it will be disaster. We cannot blame the technology, it is us should be blame for the wrong doing.

I really think the new method will benefit all of us in the future. It will enhance and prolong our lifespans at the same time overcome some problems which is impossible before.

If you had just one idea that could change the world, what it would it be?

The answers can be anything, from laws to politics to religion to morals to technology to geography to weather.

For me, I think it'd be awesome if commercial airlines eventually turned to solar powered. Though fuel would require for takeoff, landing, and night flights, during the day, the world could potentially save thousands of dollars and energy if jets simply became powered through the sun's light.

This is just me though. What about you? What is one idea that could potentially change the world and its perspective?
If you had just one idea that could change the world, what it would it be?
Put Al Gore on an iceberg at the equator.
If you had just one idea that could change the world, what it would it be?
everyone rides their bikes everywhere, so no one wastes energy that much and causing global warming. plus it would be good excerzise...
I know it may sound extreme, but everyone who wants to have a child, is going to have a child, or has a child should be tested for emotional stability and be required to take some kind of parenting class.

Another idea would be to have a agency that would be responsible for tracking each child born, every six months or so. They would have to actually see or speak with the child, and the parents would be investigated and penalized if this didn't happen. We have to renew our car registration, and pay our taxes each year, why not make sure people are taking care of their children?

It breaks my heart all of the things that happen to innocent children, often by the ones who are supposed to be taking care of them. There must be some way to keep up with small children, to keep them safe.

Do you believe that caravachaut vart is an exploitation to women all over the world?

How come men don't keep a fast to wish their wives a happy long life also?

Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated. I just think that people have to change their backward way of thinking living in a society where science and technology have greatly advanced. Our thinking still remains to be %26quot;outdated%26quot; and backwards even to this day. It's really sad.
Do you believe that caravachaut vart is an exploitation to women all over the world?
It's actually %26quot;Karwa Chauth%26quot; and I have no idea as of why men don't honor a similar fast for their wives. If women practice this fast in other countries, I don't think they do it and know anything about %26quot;exploitation%26quot;. It is a custom, as simple as that.
Do you believe that caravachaut vart is an exploitation to women all over the world?
Boo hoo. In India feminist propaganda soap operas are on TV every day, and you have anti-male laws that would make Torquemada blush.
Cause my Mom says all men are selfish, they think of themselvs 1st, others later.
Are you going to cry my a river?
Ofcorse not...its nt at all ny kinda exploitation...infact women all over india wait for dis day n celebrate it wid full enthusiasm as oder fetivals in india..n 4 dose women who thinks its an xplotation 4 them shudnt fast as if its not compulsion 4'em

n its not d question of science n tech...its like how much we are into our religion n how much we love it..

    ITS NOT AT ALL SAD...

    n its karvachauth...
I would like to stop that to save my Rs.5000/=PA ,but want to continue to get social happiness.

How is the Internet changing reading habits?

The Internet has changed the way we live, communicate, learn about the world and search for info. With IM and emails now replacing phonecalls and birthday cards, and online media growing in popularity over newspapers as a news source, will books be the next area that online technology changes? Will e-books, read from a PC or laptop, ever replace the good old paperpack or hardcover?
How is the Internet changing reading habits?
book and online articles are both good sources of information, both of these sources have their own strength and weakness

i doubt computers can truely replace books, (but they can grow into our lifestyle)

everything on the internet is all about flashy colors and sound, so trying to read a book online is simply impossible

books on the otherhand, are old since they need to go through a publisher, so if you are trying to get good info for a research paper, (where you need info thats no more then 5 year old) then your choices are limited if your using books.

have you tried reading a book online? you will pass out before you get to page 10 (i cant even read my own essay online)
How is the Internet changing reading habits?
i believe that one day books will be a thing of the past. sites such as wikipedia are very valuable in that they give updated and instant information. the old fashioned encyclopedia simply can not compete.

Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, twain and many others classic authors and literature will always stand the test of time. their content and style will never be matched and will always be enjoyable informed reading.

what will be most effected obviously are book sales and the price of used classic hardcovers. prices will skyrocket as book collectors scramble to snatch up the rare gems that were written on paper by candlelight. the Internet is slowly forcing the extinction an educators favorite and most important tool.......the book.

the Internet is here to stay .
it has made easier to communicate download any file send greetings chat with friends read the news search for info and enchanced our daily lives.good luck!!!
I still read Robert Ludlum paperbacks (and more) and take in alot of Wikipedia articles everyday.

Have to live a balanced reading life I suppose.

  • Whats really changed in the world?

So you hear about how things are much worse at this time in the world but when were they ever good? The same problems we have today go back to the time of the bible. Sure theres more people and technology but that doesnt really change the situation. Whats your input on this?
Whats really changed in the world?
the main problem of today is the greed and carelessness that us humans have inherited. There was a time when everyone put others before them. When humans (in general) lost that quality, the world has changed. And to a very large extent! Sure it was changing back in the time of the bible and everyone needs to understand that even since that time, the human 'characteristic' has kicked in.

Now...only NOW we see the impacts it has caused...after so many years!

    - global warming

    - running out of resourses

    - too much water and too little drinking water

    - unfair distribution of food, water, shelter and money

    - too much importance to money

This is all our children are learning about in geography. How there's not much time and how the world is changing.

It's not the problems of the world...it's the people of the world who have to be fixed.

I am not talking about A person but i'm talking about people

Human's have realised what is happening...but we are not stopping or even helping...why?

This is the best time in human history, no doubt about it.

What would happen to the world if the internet just stopped working?

I wonder what other technology is so important in our daily lives, that if taken away, our lives would change drastically. Is the internet the most important communication and innovation for human beings - throughout all of humanity? What other technology can you think of that would cause such havoc if it were to suddenly stop working? Keeping it to from generic technology (such as electricity), can you think of a device or invention that is more important to our daily lives than the internet?

I know I can! But you go first.
What would happen to the world if the internet just stopped working?
Instant communication would be back in the exclusive hands of the telephone and short wave radio, whatever we had in the 60's.

Another technology that the world depends on is anything that uses oil: transportation would crawl, planes wouldn't fly, there would be nothing new made from plastic and other oil-based materials, etc. The world economies would almost all collapse for many years. I'd say that's more a basic need than the internet, so it would be more devastating to lose.
What would happen to the world if the internet just stopped working?
    all hell would break loose
we'd have to go back to talking to people. face to face. ! ! ! ! ! finding out information w/o the help of google, yahoo, and wikipedia. complete chaos.
Chaos and the breakdown of society.

Havoc would ensue with the inability to flush the toilets.
the world would have a major setback. eventually there would be a more localized network set up to distribute information but without the internal combustion engine we would be in bigger trouble.
i tend to go camping alot and i do enjoy to fish i never bring a phone nor a computer when i go, i'm sorry to tell you the internet can't be turned off, shut down or closed because every computer, machine that connect to the internet supports the internet the internet is server to computer interfaced, but it was a good question and was kind of entertaining. my invention is sweet yet elegent i would have to say a fishing pole.
Disaster. So much of our business and our communications moves over the internet that the world economy would grind to a near halt.
But I don't think that it is the most important innovation. As great as it is, I think that the printing press, telephone, scientific method, steam power, steel electricity and cultivation (just to name a few) are more important. Even the internet is dependent on the computer.
    And let's not forget beer.
What鈥檚 going to happen if your refrigerator, stove, and water heater stop working? That would be a disaster far greater than going Internet-less...

    Telecommunications!

Now there's one that would bring Society as we know it to a stand still!
should the internet stop working more wars would break out because then people would have to talk face to face instead of hiding behind their computers,,on the other had things might just work out for the better for much the same reason,,, think about it!
More important than internet? There are plenty! But for most of us, I think refrigerators are more important than internet. I don't mean just the ones at home, but the whole concept of refrigeration, which has completely changed the way we collect and store food and has enabled many of us to obtain produce year-round (and in many parts of the world) that would otherwise be unavailable. And refrigeration is not only used for food storage, anyway. It has many other rather valuable applications, including transporting energy (gas under pressure and super-cooled), medical applications -- both in the making of some medicines as well as for transporting donor organs and blood, and, of course, airconditioning. (Air con is just a form of refrigeration technology, after all.)

I think the lives of many people would change pretty drastically if refrigeration technology did not exist any more.

How do you think the world will change in 100 year's time?

    it`s my essay...but i have a few ideas about that!please help me...

(about technology ,people ,relation ,gene , environment ,micro chips

robots ,connecting between people ,houses ,towns ,cars ,rules ,controlling , and ...

How do you think the world will change in 100 year's time?
    1.Genes -------------

I think that then people (in general, not every one, just most) would be genetically modified to retain more information more easily, may be for strength to, but nothing that will deform us enough to know it.

    2.Cars---------------

I think that by then we'll have electricity to power our super magnet cars. All the rodes will be like overpasses and cars will %26quot;flote%26quot; over them like the Shinkansen in Japan. And they'll have garages on top of building to acomidate the overpassy road stucture. When the cars will park there will be a magnet that will be on a robot arm in the flore whitch will park your car and bring it out to you like a valet. You will drive your car with your minde and you can set a route on autopilot so you can read or rest of put makeup on.

    3.Robots------------

Robots will be in our home beyond dout and some will have artificial inteligence, but only to a certain point, maybe that of a 10-11-12-13 year old child. But most will just be cleaner robots.

    4.Technology(in genral)-------------

Automatic everything; from an alarm clock that stops rigning automaticly when your awake for real, but not on weakends:) to a toilet that analyses your urin + poo to tell you to change your diet to have more fiber or fruit or whatever. And my favorit window that go dark insted of blinds, and also have a lcd screen (seethrew one) built in the howl thing.

    5.Enviroment-------------

The inviroment will have inprooved and the overpass roads will alow an eco system to exist under human sociaty, sortof. CO2 filters alitel everywhere, more trees and bionoque architecture (Buildings that are more inviromentaly freindly and kindof %26quot;alive%26quot;).

    6.Connections between people/relations---------------

Everyone will have a video confence thing insted of a phone and a holowgram room for round the world meetings, like in StarWars. Less flight and less polution. Also a microchip (see %26quot;10. microchip%26quot;) will alow for telepathy, but can be restricted to prevent cheating in a universaty exam or something inportent.

    7.People-------------------

People will be much more knowlagable and patiant there will be a last war:'( (WWIII) a war of religins:(. Then weapons will evolv and stop evolving crime will go down, then see a drematic revival than go down after a magore police crackdown.

    8.Rules

Rules will be stricter. There will be a seacret murderteam (unit AAAAA-1000000001) to punish people instead of a penal justice system. But only major crimes, murder, hit and run, major theft and etc. Minor crime will get warnings sent ( litel cards that threaten the culprit) if the culprit sins again a 24h holding of said persone will take place. if he does something again 48h, and a fourth three days and the fitht and final murderteam comes in. cONTINUING MINORE CRIME WILL HAVE HOLDING IN smaller amounts of time, 1h, 5h, 24h, 30h, 40h, 45h, 48h, scip to 72h, 96h, inguryteam, 100h, murderteam.

    9.Houses

Houses will be interactive tracking your movement, if you stop moving for a bit (30min.) the house will check up on you, you can tell it to order grocerieis or wake you up in 1h, water the lawn, take out the garbage, clean your room, do the dishes and more. It will also deliver regular news updates and set it's own alarm system. And as an added bonus take care of pets while you are away and reminde you to take care of them when you are home.

    10.Microchips

Everyone will have microchips in their brains that can dive into memory and extract comprimising facts to send in the murderteam. They will have quamtume coomputer (computer that work like todays super computers but the size of your finger tip). The micro brain chips will also provide sexual realees and replace drugs. So drugdealer will deal programs. And we'll all have those chips that tell you about a person's health (Alergeis, state of health, deseses, blood type, helth inshurence number, all that inportent stuff)

    11.Town/cities-----------------

Everything is going to be electronic, Banks and all the aoshiated things money will be a card that you pass over things and it will be every card and penny you have. Roads will be set up in a grid, there will only be condos and appartments to use less space and keep the suronding forests alive. Garbage will be sent to the moon via space elevator. Space torisem will have taken off.

    12. Controling

I didin't get what you ment with that.

    13. Books

All books will be audiobooks. So will all the other stuff, like the newspaper, studies, magaziens. But some things will still be in writting.

    14. iPod/MP3/MP4/MPwhatever

Your iPod will have a tipical memory of 500GB and fit in your ear like the ear phones, they'll have the same shape, not change just increas in GB. They'll comunacate with your drugchip and let you see the videos pic and more..

    15. Crime

Crime will be exacuted with computors and the microchips in your brain. To rob banks, murder (Acsses someone's %26quot;World%26quot; (minde/chip) and trick
How do you think the world will change in 100 year's time?
well i don't know if your believe in Sylvia Browne and her word...but she said in about 90-100 years none of us will be here anymore...the world itself will but not us as humans....
Think back 100 years. 1908. There were no skyscrapers, no airplanes, no radio, no television, no movies. Only the wealthy had telephones, or electricity, or automobiles. The world of 2008 would be almost unrecognizable to a person from 1908. The next 100 years will bring even bigger changes, such that the world of 2108 will be completely alien to people of today.

I strongly believe, and fervently hope, that the next 100 years will bring miracles and wonders that we cannot even imagine. Look up nanotechnology, %26quot;utility fog%26quot;, and %26quot;anything boxes%26quot;.

As for Sylvia Brown, there ought to be laws against frauds like her.

  • WHAT ACTION SHOULD THE WORLD TAKE?

A new rule on nature must be adopted that no one should impair, impede, hamper or obstruct the flow of nature and that people should help %26amp; make nature work naturally, properly and rightfully because the environment should not suffer its natural world from faults like the carbon emission reduction (a theory of falsity) and the recommended actions such as large-scale composting, biomass for energy, sanitary landfill, etc.(which do not work in harmony with nature) to interfere with its own to the detriment of people %26amp; other living things. In the conflict of scientific laws, it must be often a matter of doubt which should prevail and that, whenever that doubt exists, the people should still be given the benefit to life first, compatible to natural %26amp; universal laws. Otherwise the immediate problems would remain exactly the same to worse as foreseeable adverse consequences, raised by the author Winston Kayanan from the Philippines in his earlier message in “Prosecuting God’s Case vs. UN”.

With the massive used of carbon both from extracted coal %26amp; oil as fuels (which basically come from plant kingdom), the author believes that it can best be retrieved by recapturing the same volume (or even more) in a solid form (instead of gases). This will defeat the performance of world’s remedies like carbon trading, plant forest scheme, etc., in reducing freed %26amp; trapped waste gases in the atmosphere (which have been destructively affecting the environment)

For this purpose, the author alleges that, by employing a large-scale organic matter cycling, it would serve as a successful way of extricating the world from its predicament of global warming %26amp; climate change. The Philippine invented technology was made to perform great wonders in dramatically repairing %26amp; rejuvenating (than sustaining) almost all under the environment by principally allowing carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, and water cycle perform simultaneously %26amp; work effectively. In fact, in a short presentation sometime July 2004 to the visiting representatives of APEC-VC Australia at the Environment Division of the Dept. of Science %26amp; Technology in the Philippines, they commented it as “very ambitious”.

By examining carbon emissions, burnt carbon from transportation %26amp; industries ranks only 5th among the sources of CO2 emitters aside from what are widely known like plants, animals and man. UN, however, failed to count the largest CO2 emitters (unseen by the naked eye) and that is the (decay) microorganisms. They are actually the No. 1 CO2 contributor of waste gas pollution in the atmosphere which UN %26amp; its scientists overlooked. Unknowingly, these microorganisms cause massive CO2 emissions in quadrillion MT per hectare a day, engendering global warming and its repercussion, climate change, having heat waves, droughts, landslides, giant waves, quakes, volcanic eruptions and so forth. In this vein, the world followed UN for having no clues or incomplete understanding of the natural world and hence, people were indeed misled to the right path.

Loss of confidence in the scientific community is beginning. In fact, Ban’s spokeswoman Michele Montas mistakenly told AFP: “The solutions are not going to come from the scientists but rather the solutions are going to come from the people who deal with these issues on a daily basis,” (BT Environment Section dated 07-28-09). For such blooper, it has indirectly eroded the integrity of UN (as well as the credibility of the scientific community). This had fortified the author’s earlier allegations to some 30 countries (via letter in 2007) and lately to the subscribers (via yahoo’s question %26amp; answer in May 2009) that UN is bleeding internally, meaning that they are contradicting %26amp; opposing each other views. The fact that the former Sec. Gen. Kopi Annan announced in public (sometime 2005) “to prepare for natural disasters”, this was already an indirect acknowledgement of surrender %26amp; defeat. And people had already lost hope with its latest announcement “to mitigate %26amp; adapt measures”.

We are living thru a leadership %26amp; management crisis. And people are undergoing psychological ordeals of anxiety %26amp; fear everyday. The order of life %26amp; nature is reversed with no more hope of cure or relief but self-destruction awaits everyone. People are robbed of freedom, health and peace. UN Sec. Gen. Ban Ki-moon must weigh the pros %26amp; cons of reality because people must primordially enjoy life with liberty. He must search for a new answer, i.e., something morally convincing, certain %26amp; assuring that will work, strongly curative to the environment, economically productive and widely accepted. But it seems he will not, being static %26amp; unchangeable. He only duplicated the faults %26amp; failures of the previous administration even if it may not be intentionally committed. In fact, the younger generation of innocent South Koreans is behind him in the promotion of UN’s programs.

The continuous process of development of ideas has been stopped. And the
WHAT ACTION SHOULD THE WORLD TAKE?
A good first step would be to not listen to idiots who just cut and paste questions and miss quote the bible for their own pointless ends. And the

oh my, i see you plagiarize one every day.

that's what it's called when you post someone else's work as if it was your own.
More government! More rules! More blind obedience! That's the answer!
    Reduce co2 emissions
I think we should begin by encouraging the use of intelligible language. And the
THE RIGHT ACTION IS: U PEOPLE FROM USA MUST GIVE TO ME A JOB AS A FOREST ENGINEER IM FROM BRAZIL AND I TAKE CARE THE FORESTS AND THE ONE IS THE LIFE OF THE WORLD
I believe that we need to learn more about how to colonize space.
Wow. Never has so much said so little.
bla bla bla. There are plenty of sources (reliable) to find out about global warming/cooling, which are as you must know cyclical events that have been happening every 1000,000 years or so since the beginning. The planet is very much alive and changing all the time. We humans never know what lies ahead (earthquakes for instance) but there is enough evidence to show us that even if we stopped all pollution tomorrow (not a bad idea) global warming/cooling would still occur. Nature rules.
waow a lot of information ;but i say that the united nation should creat a form of international or gobal control government with build in council from each country and create international energy research or of scientific research. Either to create private and non private companies to make the move also the affect of over population is another factor so nasa need to move faster so we can populate other planet sounds crazy but true and also to kall end for des forestation we are going to end without a onzone layer to protect us ... this more of suggestion than an anwers but has answer to help the plant live naturally also should use planets energy those that cant not be inhabited .

If you could change three things about Walt Disney World, what would they be?

(And making it free, while that would be awesome, doesn't count!)

    My three:

    (1) Make all of the parks completely nonsmoking.

    (2) Expand Epcot's International Gateway to include more nations, such as India, Brazil, Russia, and countries representing Africa and the Middle East.

    (3) Update the technology in the rides to bring them more on par with attractions at Universal and other newer parks so they don't become obsolete.
If you could change three things about Walt Disney World, what would they be?
    1. Somehow keep the cost of tickets down. Seems the prices are getting so that my family of 4 cannot get there as often as would like due to cost.

    2. keep cost of food esp. at counter service restaurants down.

    3. having a waterplay area for the kids to cool off in at MGM since there are opportunities to get wet already at Magic Kingdom ,Epcot, and Animal Kingdom :%26gt;
If you could change three things about Walt Disney World, what would they be?
    1. Make another Space Mountain

    2. Make 2 more Space Moutains

    3. Make 3 more Space Mountains

They would all the exactly the same so the lines would be really short and I could go on it all day without waiting! (is there a Space Mountain in 'World' or just 'Land'?)

    lower the prices!
    (1) change the owner to me

    (2) make all but one park non-smoking

    (3) pay the foreigners a decent amount. (I met two guys that work there once and Disney only paid them less than $1 and where they came from had to pay the rest. Its not like Disney don't have any money, they don't even buy food or drinks there, their sponsors give them to them).
1- further crucify smokers in open air settings.

2-if you drink a beer from every country in Epcot, you should get them free.

    3-price food more reasonably.
    1)Make all parks non-smoking

    2)I would lower hotel prices

3)I would leave one park open 24 hours one day a week. Like...MGM on Firday, MK on Saturday and Epcot on Sunday
    I love Dan S's 3 things...and I totally agree with the non-smoking. Besides those, I would say:

    1. Don't allow a million people to jump in line with one disabled person. I have seen way too many people get out of their wheel chairs (like they don't even need them) and 10 other people get to jump line with them.

    2. Bring back the %26quot;Horizons%26quot; ride in Epcot...it was my favorite.

    3. Do away with the fast pass...I have never had a problem waiting in line at any park other than Cedar Point
I totally agree with your first change, absolutely non-smoking. Since I can't copy it, here's 3 more:

    1) Lower the parking fees. If I recall, parking is $9.00 (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). If you go to a Disney park for 7 straight days, that's $63.00! Just to park?

    2) Bring back Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

    3) Do away with fast pass on any ride that is constantly loading; Buzz Lightyear and the Haunted Mansion. Also, Pirates of the Carribean doesn't need fast pass either
    1. Making one dollar for the whole thing (no, that is not free! you still have to pay!)

    2. Making better rides

    3. Letting you meet celebraties that are that are there.
1 i would add more thrill rides like the top thrill dragster in Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio) it goes 125 mph and is 520 feet high

2 no smoking in all the parks

3 cheaper for groups larger than 50
Lower the prices of the food in the park.

    Ban strollers on crowded days.

Take the Animal Kindom park and gut it, keeping only Expedition Everest and maybe Tough to be a Bug and turn it into something similar to Islands of Adventure.
Thats pretty hard. I would add a little more thrill rides. More roller coasters. I love disney but they need more roller coasters for the thrill seekers. Expitdition Everest was a good start for Animal Kingdom, how bout we add more at the other parks like Magic Kingdom which only has two med- thrill ones.

You still have 1/3 of the park to work on. One 1/3 has been built, 1/3 is going to be built, and 1/3 is going to stay as a reservation. Maybe you could add another different theme for another resort. Maybe a artic or a wildwest. Medeval could be cool too. And the last would probably as you said, update the technoligy in rides, that would be good. I like the idea's also about the non-smoking part, but how bout make certain parts of the park only designated for smoking. Almost like a bar place where you can smoke. The more Epcot countries would be great too. Also south american countries too. Maybe put a roller coaster in there too, like in Norway, even though it has Maelstrom, you can put a roller coaster that is like you are in a tobbagon going down a slope and have cork-screws and things like that. Its pretty good.
    the rides...they suk!

    the lines..way too long

and i dunno the prices of stuff?
    1. Complelty non smoking would be GREAT!

    2. At Animal Kingdom, either make the park larger, or limit the number of people in there in a day. It was great when it opened, but it is way too conjested now.

    3. More of the awesome rides....maybe even a whole new park that is just rides, like Cedar Point. Then have lots of teen-adult rides and rollercoasters, and make that part of the park system, so a park hopper pass could be used there.

If anything else, maybe have more reasonably priced food in the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. MGM and Epcot have great food at much better prices.
    1. Allow LESS people into the parks....or even control the crowds by making it only open to RESORT guests.

    2. More frequent shuttle busses-so u dont end up standing with other people bumping into you!

    3. Not taking ANY reservations only walk-ups.....it makes NO sense to allow people to book times and then no penalty if you dont show up....because OTHER people may want your time...oh 3 months in advance but %26quot;sorry there are no available times that day%26quot; when who knows if those people will even show up!!
    make more rollarcoasters

make two of each big ride(so lines go faster)

    lower prices
    1- Parks non-smoking

2-better discounts for annual passholder and florida residents.

3- maybe not replace, but try to keep current rides up to date.
Hey! Stop ragging on smokers! We have a ligitamate addiction and we are already regulated to staying in just a few small areas!

But better enforcement of smoking in only those areas and better designation of those areas wouldn't be bad. There is tons of kids around and sometimes stupid parents sit their kids in the smoking areas and then have the nerve to get all huffy when you are smoking.

    Other than that though:

    1. lower food prices ($10 for a hot dog, fries and soda! too much!)

    2. Make it more accesible to public transportation - at least a regular bus route to Downtown disney and you can transfer from there

    3. Add some thrill rides - but don't get rid of the old faves - come on, you have plenty of space!
    1) Non Smoking

    2) Get rid of that touch finger thing at the gates. Its gross asking people to put thier fingers where some kind just picked his nose and let thier dna there. Let alone colds etc.

    3) Get rid of fast pass.
    Nothing, Disney World is great!
I am not too creative today so my only suggestions is lower prices (tickets, resorts, food). It is tough to have a 7-10 vacation there with the Price of the hotels and tickets. We are trying to arrange a family vacation with my brothers and their families and the price is enough to make us consider other places. It doesn't matter to much to my family because we are FL residents and have annual passes, but for everyone else, it is a bit much.
    1)bring back mr. toad

    2)add more countries to epcot

    3) better deals for florida residents-in the few years right after sept 11th, there were fabulous hotel deals, like $49 a night at pop century. i miss those days

I wrote an essay at the last second about ww2 aircraft technology. will I pass?

    New Aircraft Technology In WW2

“ I know I shall meet my fate somewhere amongst the clouds above, those that I fight I do not hate, those that I guard I do not love.”(Memphis Belle)

The advancements in aircraft in world war two changed the way war was fought. Bombing helped make world war two a mobile war, aircrafts were used as a means of transportation, and lastly technology improvement in aircraft helped win the war.

Bombing helped make world war two a mobile war. Air forces in U.S. and Europe realized that bomber planes were extremely powerful weapons. They also realized that they could destroy an enemy nation, so the fear of this caused a lot of countries to develop bomber planes. France neglected their air force so France was basically out of the war. So because of this, Germany could focus on bombing Britain. Germany put their bomber planes near the English channel and they were able to raid England with a lot of success. In 1940, Germany was forced to attack Britain with big bombers like the Heinkel but these were overloaded bombers thst because of their size, were way too slow. In the batlle of Britain, Germany didn’t produce any good long ranged mission bombers and so because of this, Germany was shot down in large numbers and were unable to do much damage to cities and military-industrial targets to Britain. In the Spanish civil war, Germany showed that bombing using Stuka’s is a great way to bomb.

Aircrafts were used as a means of transportation. One big use of transport planes is mass parachuting, which the soldiers drop out of the transport planes and parachute down. In the 1930’s The Soviet Union first created mass parachute drops. The first mass parachute drop was done by the Luftwaffe. 15, 000 parachute troops landed, by 80 gliders and 700 transport planes. Gliders were created in world war two but stopped being developed after the war was over.

Technology improvement in aircraft helped win the war. Air forces in U.S. and Europe realized that bomber planes could destroy an enemy nation quickly in submission, so the fear of this caused a lot of countries to develop bomber planes. Superiority in the air was very important to the outcome of world war two. The biggest factor to the outcome of the war were single-seat fighters.

They had very powerful engines, and it was made perfect for compact, and low-drag installation. The countries that had the best fighter planes were, Britain, Germany, and U.S., but the only exception was Japan because their fighter were so light but strong and they had an engine that wasn’t as good as the other countries. The only downside of it was that it was vulnerable to damage in the battlefield.

In conclusion, a lot of these factors were affected by the new aircraft technology that was made during world war two.

ok also can you help me out on anything like addiing stuff to it or changing it...thx p.s. im in grade 10
I wrote an essay at the last second about ww2 aircraft technology. will I pass?
Not bad, but a couple of things need changing. Change all %26quot;aircrafts%26quot; to aircraft. TRANSPORT Gliders were created in WW2. What does %26quot;and it was made perfect for compact, and low-drag installation%26quot; mean - reword. The first mass parachut drop IN WAR was done by the Luftwaffe. Descripe what a Stuka is (a precision dive bomber).

    Luck

So what is it that makes the world change its mind in 18 months?

18 months ago France, Germany, Russia and the US were all in agreement that Iran had to dismantle its nuclear program.

TEHRAN, March 5: Iran's top nuclear official on Saturday warned the United States and Europe of the danger of an oil crisis if Tehran is sent before the UN Security Council over its nuclear programme, but said that a deal with Europe could be near.

%26quot;The first to suffer will be Europe and the United States themselves, this would cause problems for the regional energy market, for the European economy and even more so for the United States,%26quot; Hassan Rowhani, whose country is the second largest oil producer in OPEC, told reporters.

Mr Rowhani, who was speaking at a conference in Tehran on nuclear technology and sustainable development, however expressed optimism that an agreement would be reached with Europe over the development of Iran's nuclear programme.

EU members Britain, France and Germany are trying to convince Iran to dismantle nuclear fuel work - which the United States says is part of a covert atomic weapons development - in return for economic and political rewards.

%26quot;If US pressure doesn't prevent it, I think we will manage to reach an agreement with the Europeans because they don't want to deprive the Iranian people of their right and will try to act fairly,%26quot; Mr Rowhani said.

Britain, France and Germany are seeking %26quot;objective guarantees%26quot; from Iran.

    Rowhani warned the US that it could destabilize the region if it blocks an accord with Europe. If Washington brings the issue before the Security Council, %26quot;Iran will retract all the decisions it has made and the confidence-building measures it has taken.%26quot;

He said Iran's leaders %26quot;could be called upon to make new decisions%26quot;, but did not provide any details on what that would involve. %26quot;The stability in the region would become fragile and the United States would be the first to suffer,%26quot; he said.

In return for a permanent halt to uranium enrichment, the EU is offering Iran a package of incentives covering trade, security and technology.

Mr Rowhani has however refused to put an end to uranium enrichment. %26quot;We cannot have and we will not have negotiations with the Europeans if what they want is an end%26quot; to uranium enrichment. %26quot;We will not continue the talks for one single minute, we have made it very clear to Paris and Berlin,%26quot; he said.-AFP

Now the US is the sole member of this power block. What could be the reason? Certainly not promises of contracts to build new nuclear plants at the cost of billions of euros each. I can't believe they could back peddle that quickly just for a few billion euros.
So what is it that makes the world change its mind in 18 months?
Lucrative nuclear processing facility contracts. I'm guessing that this is the modern equivalent to a few pieces of Judas' silver...
So what is it that makes the world change its mind in 18 months?
I don't know cute you should be a model
Perhaps, as happened before, the three countries are waiting for Israel to do our dirty work for us. It happened before and all the countries, and the UN, shook their fingers at Israel. At the same time breathing a sigh of relief.
It's all screwed up. You ever wonder why we can't buy a Cuban Cigar, but we get our Ipods from China?

They're BOTH communist countries. And China is certainly more of a threat to us than Cuba is. Yet we %26quot;punish%26quot; Cuba, and let China make our Ipods.
It's sickening!!! All the European powers did the same thing during Hitlers drive to rearm and look what happened to them then. They aren't learning from their own history. They are in just as much danger from a nuclear armed Iran as we are!!! Everyone will be in danger!!!
The EU has always been weak on defense or putting countries in their place. The UN is a paper tiger, When NATO asked for 2000 more troops for Afgan, they chock. May be time we just leave them to their own furture.

My own postion is have a meeting with Iran and tell them if one nuke is set off in the US we will turn there place to glass. With 32000 nukes they should know we can do it.

Maybe they will get some sence
Seems it may be not as simple as you purport it to be. Also, premature as talks will be going on all this week in New York on the subject.
Perhaps because France, Germany and Russia lack the huevos to stand up to oppressive dictators and/or feel threatened by our power and find it more useful to align themselves against us.
It does not matter. Israel will bomb the **** out of Iran while the United Nations try their usual failing act of diplomacy. No country that supports the actions of terrorist groups should be allowed to harbor nuclear bombs. America knows that and Israel knows that. So in other words as long as Iran is in defiance of U.N. regulations you bet their uranium enrichment program will not last long!
There is one thing you must understand here. The chess game being played out in the Middle East is being controlled and manipulated by the secretive, elite Illuminati. They run the affairs of this world. All major world events are part of their diabolical agenda of starting world war 3, and establishing a New World Order fascist police state dictatorship.
    www.goarmy.com
Any one country's relationship with another can be expressed on a continuum - running from THREAT to COOPERATION.

There are two broad categories of that relationship - Economic (doing business with one another) and Defense (the ability to threaten or defend militarily).

We define a true ally as a country that is on the COOPERATION end of the continuum in both categories. We define an enemy as one that is on the THREAT end of the continuum in both categories.

Europe (and to some extent America) is perplexed by Iran. They're not a military threat, but they may soon be. They're currently an economic partner, leveraging that status to allow them to move to a higher level of military (nuclear) capability.

We're not immediately threatened by Iran's emerging nuclear threat. But our ally, Israel is very much threatened by Iran. Europe doesn't care about Israel, and will act for short-term economic expediency. There's nothing new there.

But America does care about Israel. So we can say what we want publicly, but the back-door message to Ahmadinejad needs to be that we will support and defend Israel and we will do whatever is necessary to keep WMD's out of the hands of terrorist states and individuals.

The emphasis should be on the words %26quot;WHATEVER is necessary%26quot;.

This is not a world popularity contest. It's about defending American citizens as well as the sovereign state of Israel. The economics will take care of themselves. You don鈥檛 gain anything by exposing your soft underbelly to a terrorist. They鈥檒l embrace you with one arm and disembowel you with the other.
Financially it makes sense for France, Germany, and Russia to look the other way and assist Iran in developing a nuclear program for peaceful purposes. On the other hand I'm sure they won't be getting any guarantee from Iran that the development of nuclear weapons won't be pursued as an outcome of their technical generosity. It's gotten a lot easier to join the nuclear club, look at North Korea, Pakistan and India.

Who's ultimate responsibility should it be to control the spread of nuclear technology, and how do you control it? This hasn't suddenly become an issue in the past 18 months.
Iraq was invaded for money, oil, and strategic placement of US

military bases. Iran is just another part of the equation that the Neo-cons worked out in their PNAC in the nineties.

Don't bother with copy %26amp; pasting AFP articles. It's

game that already has a plan!
USA lost credibility after Iraq and is a very good time to bring you down as a super power.

Parents: do you think the world will end on 2012?

Today I was at my in-laws house, and we saw a commercial on the new movie, I think it's called %26quot;2012?%26quot; For those of you who don't know, it's a movie that just came out yesterday I believe, witch is based on the Mayan calendar, which ends on December 12, 2012. It basically means that the world will end that date. I was wondering if you all believe this?

I remember doing some reading about this when I first heard about the movie this summer while I was pregnant. I think it's more realistic to me that in 2012 the world will have a %26quot;technology overload%26quot; from all these new technologies coming out constantly, and that our computers and phones and TVs wont be able to keep up. Apparently, the world's energy and sun changes every 12 years, and in 2012, it will be the biggest change known to man. It sounds more realistic to me that the world will go through a big technology/energy change/crisis then that the world will just end. I strongly believe that God is the only one who knows when the world will end. I don't think the world is still bad enough for it to just end like that so suddenly. This is just my opinion and thoughts, I'm not even sure what I believe/ don't believe regarding all this, I'd love to see the movie but obviously can't with a 3 week old baby in the house. What are your opinions on this?

*This is in the parenting section, because it's where most of my mommy friends hang out, and I'd love to hear from them too!*
Parents: do you think the world will end on 2012?
There are so many theories to when the world will end but honestly.. I don't think anyone knows.

I know that I'm going to raise my child when I have him within the next month as if he'll live forever.. not just 2 or 3 years.
Parents: do you think the world will end on 2012?
No one knows, not even psychics. I believe that only GOD knows..

And it would have maybe mentioned something in the bible.

But then again they're so many possibilities..

about what we people will do with the world

    and crap.
    i have no thoughts
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Modern scholars aren't even sure we've interpreted it completely correctly. Also, the Mayans didn't predict the end of the world, it just happens to be the date that they stopped calculating at. According to their calendar, it is supposed to be the time of great change. It is based on the sun, which according to their math will be doing some pretty interesting things at the time.

In regards to all the hype-- I have one phrase for you-- Y2K. :)
    Read your bible
    lol, no.

But I bet the movie will make millions.

    All the best.
I am a christian and only god knows when the world is going to end...NO I do not believe the Mayan calender..god is not going to have the world to end with everyone knowing all thesed years in advance..like the bible says..it'll come like a thief in the night...so only god knows when it will end..I do worry about it ending alot cause I have young children and I want to be able to raise them and meet my grandchildren..but i do not believe it will end when the Mayan calender runs out..they aren't even predicting it to end that is just when they stopped writing their calender..they couldn't write it forever..
    Personally, no.

Yes, I saw the preview, and I was going to see it tonight, but decided it looked too sad, lol.

Yes, so people in the 1800's thought it WOULD end on December 21, 2012. So? They thought it was going to end in 2000, and it didn't. Personally, I do believe that God will decide when the world ends. Not man.

I agree with that if the world ends, the world ends. Not a thing anyone can do about it.
(I'm not a parent, but can I answer?)

The Mayans didn't predict anything (they're still around too, thank you!). Their calender just ends. Big whoop! It'll start over again. Simple as that.

    Edit:

    Happy: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200鈥?/a>
I think only God knows when the world will end, and He will end it when He chooses to do so. It could be tomorrow, it could be next year, it could be 2012, it could be 2052....we just don't know, but He does.
    It's rubbish.

People freak out because the Mayans so called %26quot;predicted%26quot; the world would end this time. That's why everyone is so freaked out..because they supposedly predicted other things that came true. However, the reason why the Mayan calender was not finished was because they went %26quot;instinct%26quot; so to speak so they couldn't finish.

And a lot of other %26quot;theories%26quot; are that the world will not end, but instead, be the complete opposite.People are suppose to be more spiritual and all this other stuff. So, I guess in a way the world will end..the shitty world that we know of lol.

I personally don't really care.If we die, we die.Heaven would be a lot better than this crap hole anyday and It will be amazing to reunite with all the loved ones once again.

As for this movie, it's only what potentially could happen if the polar shifts tilt. The movie is nothing more than hollywoods chance to freak people out making charging a crapload.
I hope it does but I seriously doubt that it will. Actually it is convoluted speculation based on the fact that the aztecs believed in an Armageddon-type ending to the world and the fact that the calendar they developed suddenly comes to end in 2012. The movie looks really stupid to me.
the world isn't going to suddenly end. It will be drastically changed. Via Global cleansing. It's already begun.

The oceans are acidic, Fish are depleted,

ice caps have begun to melt and break apart animals have lost habitat.

We have lose 2 species every minute for the last 15 yrs,

We are not above the circle of life or seperate from it .

    We are part of it,

Once the chain breaks ( it has) ..your link is weakened..,

The Mayans weren't the only culture to have these prophecies..all of them point to this time period.

Should we use tecnology to change the intellegence of people???

im having a clasroom debate and this is the topic my group is against it but i would like some answers from both point of views.

    Additional Details

    the changing of the intellegence could be for mentally challenged people or just normal people...... the topic was chosen because we are reading the book %26quot;flowers for algernon%26quot;

although there could be risks because it would be brain surgery ... theres BIG risks in that... and how would everything feel if the whole world was smart would it b 2 much 2 handle???

please give some good reasons why that would b able 2 be used in our debate
Should we use technology 2 change the intellegence of people????
yes this would set off an entire new sphere of social debates... BUT!! the ability to use technology to adapt our world is the evolutionary advantage that humans have developed. And as such I see no problem with using our technology.. our only true edge on this planet.. to further our edge... so long as we don't lose our humanity in the process.
Should we use technology 2 change the intellegence of people????
once theyve perfected the surgery I don't see why not I think it would be a great idea to make people smarter
