How is the Internet changing reading habits?

The Internet has changed the way we live, communicate, learn about the world and search for info. With IM and emails now replacing phonecalls and birthday cards, and online media growing in popularity over newspapers as a news source, will books be the next area that online technology changes? Will e-books, read from a PC or laptop, ever replace the good old paperpack or hardcover?
How is the Internet changing reading habits?
book and online articles are both good sources of information, both of these sources have their own strength and weakness

i doubt computers can truely replace books, (but they can grow into our lifestyle)

everything on the internet is all about flashy colors and sound, so trying to read a book online is simply impossible

books on the otherhand, are old since they need to go through a publisher, so if you are trying to get good info for a research paper, (where you need info thats no more then 5 year old) then your choices are limited if your using books.

have you tried reading a book online? you will pass out before you get to page 10 (i cant even read my own essay online)

i believe that one day books will be a thing of the past. sites such as wikipedia are very valuable in that they give updated and instant information. the old fashioned encyclopedia simply can not compete.

Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, twain and many others classic authors and literature will always stand the test of time. their content and style will never be matched and will always be enjoyable informed reading.

what will be most effected obviously are book sales and the price of used classic hardcovers. prices will skyrocket as book collectors scramble to snatch up the rare gems that were written on paper by candlelight. the Internet is slowly forcing the extinction an educators favorite and most important tool.......the book.

the Internet is here to stay .
it has made easier to communicate download any file send greetings chat with friends read the news search for info and enchanced our daily lives.good luck!!!
I still read Robert Ludlum paperbacks (and more) and take in alot of Wikipedia articles everyday.

Have to live a balanced reading life I suppose.
