What if Democrats didn’t push the “World is Ending” approach to global warming?

And instead took a common sense approach that encouraged efficiency, conservation, and new technology, would you be more or less likely to support changing our country’s approach to energy consumption?
What if Democrats didn’t push the “World is Ending” approach to global warming?
You're absolutely right. Climate change scenarioes predict a range of possible outcomes, and advocates for dealing with climate change pick the most outlandish possibilities and act like they're definite facts.

The other big problem is that a lot of the more radical environmentalist types see climate change as an opportunity to try to return us all to the Stone Age, and a lot of the people who are reasonable on what we should do to solve the environmental problems are too far to the left to support reasonable routes to that.

This is why we get policies like the Kyoto agreements. A lot of leftists fought tooth-and-nail against putting in emissions trading. Fortunately the Clinton administration got them to drop that issue. Emissions trading is sensible because it causes us to get the maximum amount of production for the amount of pollution we can tolerate. But more seriously, they still excluded China and India, along with the rest of the developing world. What this does is to create a situation where much of the world's heavy industry goes to the poorest countries in the world, where they have the least capabilities to produce without polluting, all because of socialist ideals.

If the dems didnt push that approach to global warming then we would NEED someone else to do it. There are too many rich people in power who only care about money, even at the expense of the world and your families lives. If you cant see the massive amounts of pollution in the sky, ur eyes r closed.

They already do take a common sense approach. You guys choose to see it as the other way because it supports your agenda.

Want proof? Try to find one notable Democrat who has said the words, %26quot;The world is ending,%26quot; or who has said that the planet is going to catch fire tomorrow.
If republicans weren't pushing %26quot;everything the dems say is wrong so forget about the enviroment%26quot;

would people acre more about the enviroment?
There would be far more people on board.

By the way, I wonder whatever happened to the scientific consensus they are always screaming about....

They are now saying that eating meat causes more global warming than anything else.
As usual, Usama knows not whereof he speaks...what a surprise...nobody is for destroying the environment, what we would like to see are measured, thought out approaches to environmental concerns...instead, we have been told that DOOMSDAY is coming if we don't %26quot;do something now!!%26quot; Well, how about being able to at least demonstrate how doing %26quot;X%26quot; will result in %26quot;Y%26quot; before we go ahead and do it in a Chicken Little panic?
Uh, they do those things...

Remember, BushCo et al. does not think conservation is important, puts little funding towards technology and actually encourages fuel inefficeincy.

The world is changing is the message and it WILL impact society is the consequence..
That would mean they'd have to sit back and study for hours on a boring topic and not be able to make ignorant snap decisions.

Are you kidding me?
The world isn't ending? WTF. Was truthisback correct?

Oh my god....My world is ending!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very few scientists buy into the THEORY of global warming due to man made influences. the Dem's believe that if you tell their global warming lie often enough and loud enough that people will believe it.
Not all of them take that approach but some certainly go off of the deep end and that tends to create an uproar.

As a conservative, I value our environment, began conserving many years ago, plant trees, encourage new technology, am not apposed to smog control and believe that global warming is a natural phenomena.

Does that make me think less of having a clean, safe environment? I think not. :)
There is a need to find alternative energy whether its for the environment or to stop further wars. I think a more conservative approach that appealed to people's sense of responsibility and desire to work together to achieve a goal would be better than scare tactics. However, it is causing awareness of the issue. There is no doubt something out of the norm with the weather patterns globally.
