Learning computer that can learn at geometric rate can change our world as we know it?

computer will be able to learn %26amp; invent new technology way faster than humans can which will enable us to travel at light speed, teleport, time travel etc maybe in 2 years which humans cannot invent yet or probably not for another 100 years. That means we need to invent such a computer. Is this a possibility?
Learning computer that can learn at geometric rate can change our world as we know it?
No one is sure, but many believe so.

There are those that claim that only humans can really invent things (why, I wonder. I presume they envision that there is something magic or godly in a human that cannot be duplicated), and those who think that we will eventually manage to create a truly inventive machine.

And there are those who fear such a machine, thinking that it would immediately want to destroy mankind (again, why? Because they personally would if they could?).

Read the text at the attached link. Ray Kurzweil is a futurist with impeccable credentials, and he does envision such a %26quot;singularity%26quot;. Reaching that point may signal a golden age for mankind, as most, if not all, of our problems would be addressed and solved by super-human artificial intelligence. Of course, we'd be stuck having to find what we should be doing then, since the machine would do everything faster and better than we can... Ahhh, heck, we'll ask the machine what we should do with our time when we get there.

What we don't know yet, is how far in the future is the singularity. Already, the most powerful computer on the planet has processing power a bit above the current estimate for a human brain. It lacks the truly creative program, but that will eventually come.
