The point to be grasped is that we fail to take responsibility for the state of the world, and that abdication of responsibility is made possible largely through the existence of religion. There is no devil, no god, no afterlife. But there is the mess that we have go ourlseves into. And no, technology is not evil. If used wisely and with due regard for the plight of man, it can be quite miraculous.
